Walt Disney Corp meets in Seoul
Having recently finished a lengthy consultation engagement to refresh and restructure the Uniplan Hong Kong events business and provide leadership to their Greater China group, FACTOR168 Creative Event Company founding partner Darren Kerr was asked which project left the biggest impression. He nominated an international media event on behalf of the Walt Disney Company in Korea.

The brief
WDC wanted a location that suited, and could support, the conference’s hi-tech content and the host venue needed to offer accommodation at different price points.
Challenges
“Getting a good, sophisticated audiovisual production outfit in Seoul can be very difficult,” says Darren Kerr, director of events for Uniplan. “We ended up using a number of suppliers in order to meet the lighting and technical requirements of the event.”
Execution
WDC chose South Korea because it is one of the world’s most wired and technologically advanced nations, is heavily involved in animation and is a major source of business for the online media outlets in attendance.
The main conferencing day featured panel-driven sessions to stimulate a conversational tone and reduce formality.
“The panel style put speakers at ease and facilitated interesting discussions between industry heavyweights and newcomers,” says Kerr. “The ballroom was set-up in a classroom formation as delegates needed to take a lot of notes and it brought everyone together.”
A buffet lunch was held at Rounds and the evening’s cocktail event was held at Woo bar. Smaller regional meetings were held on the closing day.
Comment
“The Walkerhill complex provided a range of accommodation, good conference facilities and Woo bar was an impressive venue for the cocktail function” says Kerr.
